Perched at an altitude of 4,632 meters (15,197 feet), Shri Hemkund Sahib is one of the highest Gurudwaras in the world. The pentagonal Gurudwara, made of white marble, reflects beautifully in the crystal-clear glacial lake beside it.
A major highlight of this place is Hemkund Lake, where pilgrims take a holy dip despite the freezing temperatures. The nearby Lakshman Temple holds religious significance for Hindus.
The Guru Granth Sahib is recited daily inside the Gurudwara, and langar (community kitchen) is served to all devotees, despite the extreme altitude and conditions.
Shri Hemkund Sahib is one of the most revered Sikh pilgrimage sites, nestled in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand. It is dedicated to the 10th Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who is believed to have meditated here in his previous life. This holy shrine, situated beside the pristine Hemkund Lake, is surrounded by seven snow-capped peaks, offering an awe-inspiring spiritual retreat.
For Hindus, Hemkund is also associated with Lakshman, the younger brother of Lord Rama, who is believed to have meditated here. The serene atmosphere and breathtaking natural beauty make it a sacred and meditative haven for devotees and trekkers alike.
